The Colorado Rockies have agreed to a Minor League deal with Mark Reynolds.

The pact includes an invitation to Spring Training. If he's added to the 40-man roster, Reynolds will receive a one-year, $1 million contract with the possibility of another $1 million in performance bonuses.

The Kansas City Royals have agreed to a four-year, $16.25 million contract extension with Whit Merrifield, according to a source.

Merrifield led the American League in both hits and stolen bases last season.

The extension buys out Merrifield's last pre-arbitration year as well as three years of arbitration and includes a fifth-year team option for $10.5 million.

The St. Louis Cardinals want to sign Paul Goldschmidt to a contract extension, but negotiations won't take place soon.

They want Goldschmidt to experience St. Louis and engage with the team before trying to sign him long-term, according to a report. They'll talk during the season.

The Cardinals have a history of success in extending players after acquiring them via trade. They were successful with Mark McGwire, Scott Rolen, Jim Edmonds and Matt Holliday.

The Chicago White Sox say they have a strong pitch for Manny Machado and Bryce Harper. Just don't expect them to sign both star sluggers.
